Baked beef with potatoes

Tasty “on the square”

Family taste of the celebration, delicious and loving. Baked in the hull, it emits all the aromas and flavors.

In the islands of the Cyclades, they call it “patatato” and in the summer when the tomatoes have a special taste, it becomes incredible.

Accompanied by a rich green salad and white cool wine is incredible. If we want we can replace the beef with lamb or goat.

    Directions

    Step 1

    Put the pieces of meat in a bowl and sprinkle with flour.

    Step 2

    Heat a little of the olive oil in a pan and "shield" the meat for 2 minutes, turning with tongs.

    Step 3

    Remove the meat to a plate.

    Step 4

    In the same pan add the remaining olive oil, onions, tomatoes and potatoes.

    Step 5

    Saute for 5 minutes, stirring with a wooden spoon.

    Step 6

    Add the vegetable broth and stir again, bringing to a boil.

    Step 7

    Add salt and pepper and nutmeg.

    Step 8

    Heat well the clay hull in the oven, and remove it carefully.

    Step 9

    Put the meat with the potatoes in the hull and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C, for 2 hours and 15 minutes.

    Step 10

    Watch and if necessary add a little hot vegetable broth or a little water.

    Step 11

    Just before the end, uncover the hull to get the meat color and take it out of the oven.

    Step 12

    Leave for 10 minutes and serve on plates.
