Narration

A traditional sweet full of aroma and flavor

The festive sweet of Zagora is the apple pie, the preserve sweets firiki POP, walnut, chestnut, raspberry all in their seasons when they are at their best. But the sweet that is served in all the name celebrations and at Christmas is the baklava. The taste is dreamy… I like it a lot because they use walnuts of their own that are aromatic and almonds, the tasty ones with the point at the end, the native Greek variety. Some add honey to the syrup but I liked without syrup as well… as they eat it in Savoy.

However, it is probably the best baklava I  have tasted next to the marble fountain of Agios Georgios Zagora square, with black coffee, nice company and lots of laughter.

Colours and aromas in the state of apple, gardenia, hydrangea, beauty…

I adore Zagora and its people who are hospitable and perceptive.
