Cake with sanguine of Antonia

A cake full of aroma and color

I first tried this wonderful cake in Italy, specifically in Sicily which is said to be the homeland of sanguine. This wonderful orange with the deep red color, almost in the color of blood.

In the 10th century, the precious orange was first cultivated in Sicily. Its characteristic color comes from the presence of anthocyanins, which are found in many flowers but not in other citrus fruits.

Sanguine has a very high nutritional value. It is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. It is very useful for shielding our body and strengthening our immune system. It is said to have anti-cancer effects.

It is suitable for those who want to lose weight, as it contains polyphenols, which have a fat-dissolving effect and therefore help the body break down fat during periods of a careful diet.

Antonia makes this incredible cake for you with the right foodstyling, to be even more tempting and to include it in your diet.

We are sure you will love this original cake.

Steps

1
Done

We preheat the oven to 180 °C.

2
Done

We put the sugar and butter in the mixer bowl and we beat them with the whisk until the sugar melts and the mixture "fluffs".

3
Done

We add the eggs and we beat a little more.

4
Done

Then we add the juice from the sanguine, milk or yogurt and little by little the flour, mixed with the baking powder and cinnamon.

5
Done

We pour the mixture into a well-buttered form.

6
Done

We put the orange slices on its surface and we sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

7
Done
1 hour

We bake for about 1 hour. We remove the cake from the oven and we let it cool a bit.

8
Done

Unmold when it is lukewarm and we place it on a grill so that its base is not moistened by water vapor.

9
Done

Once it's cool, we cut into slices.
