4 slices stale bread soaked in red wine and squeezed
1 large white dried onion grated
2 Garlic cloves melted
salt
freshly ground peppers
2 eggs
1 tbsp cumin
¼ sp. baking powder
A little water

Souzoukakia are in our DNA. Choosing to use minced chicken gives them a twist just like baking in the oven, or on the grill. So they are much healthier and tasty.

The cumin goes hand in hand with the meatballs (soutzoukaki) and the unique taste.

If we want we can replace the chicken minced meat with beef or mixed beef and pork.

Sugar is also needed because it breaks the tomato sourdough and gives it a cheerful taste.

Put the wine in a bowl and dip the slices of bread. As soon as they absorb the wine, squeeze them well between our palms and then crumble the bread.

In a large bowl put the minced chicken, bread, onion, garlic, eggs, salt, pepper, cumin, baking powder and as much water as needed and knead vigorously.

Put your fingers deep in the dough and turn on the other side, kneading vigorously.

Cover with cling film and refrigerate for 3 hours.

Bake on the grill for 20 minutes, turning with tongs on all sides.

AT THE SAME TIME WE PREPARE THE SAUCE

Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and sauté the onion and garlic

Deglaze with wine and let it until the alcohol evaporates

Add the tomato, sugar, broth, spices, salt and pepper.

Stir and let boil for 10 minutes.

Once the meatballs are baked, pour the sauce over them and put them back in the oven at 180 oC and bake for 20-25 minutes
