Dried figs compote with red wine

Sweet power up…

A sweet compote with red wine… a vitamin explosion. Figs have been consumed with pleasure since the ancient times. Besides their sweet taste,  figs have many nutrients, antioxidants and vitamins. Also, they are a concentrated source of vitamins and minerals. The dried figs of Kymi are PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and are a source of minerals such as calcium, copper, potassium, magnesium, iron, selenium and zinc.

The sweet creation of my friend Anna Gaspari from Karystos is particularly delicious and the sweetness is balanced with the stong taste of the wine. If you’d like a more balanced taste, you could use 100g less sugar.

After I tasted it I was really fascinated…  just like my friends were. It is a delicate dessert to have in a winter night…
