Feta cheese saganaki with sesame and honey crust

Taste and color

Just a few minutes are enough to have this delicious meze for ouzo or wine. Now, summer is whatever you want it to be.

Feta is the typical cheese of the Greeks and loved by all, sesame and black sesame give a unique taste and if we want a sweet note, the honey blends harmoniously.

The recipe from my personal notes and preferences.

Fried saganaki with sesame crust and honey

Steps

1
Done

We cut triangular pieces of feta 1 cm thick.

2
Done

We lightly beat the egg in a bowl.

3
Done

On our counter we place a plate with water, another with the flour, one with the beaten egg and finally another with the sesame seeds.

4
Done

So, to make it easier, we first pass the pieces of feta through the water, turning each piece on both sides, then the flour, the egg and finally the sesame seeds.

5
Done

We heat the olive oil and a little butter in a non-stick pan and fry the triangular pieces of feta. The temperature should be moderate to high.

6
Done

Once the pieces are browned on one side, we carefully turn them on the other with tweezers.

7
Done

On a plate lined with absorbent paper, we spread the pieces to remove most of the olive oil.

8
Done

We serve the feta on a plate and if you want, include it with honey.
