Orange halva

Only 20 minutes and our dessert is ready

Taste, color and aroma of orange. A dessert made in 20 minutes and is a poem. We serve it as a dessert or accompany our breakfast or even the afternoon coffee of those lazy afternoons. It is the ultimate summer sweet and is suitable for birthdays or anniversaries..

The dreamy Galaxidi

I remember when I was little during the holidays in Nafplio the orange halva, was going on strong against chocolate cake, for which our mothers said we shouldn’t eat chocolate in the summer…… The real reason, of course, was different…. the financial capacity of the people of the province back then.

In Galaxidi in the hospitable hostel Ganimede, where breakfast is unique I “met” the halva of my childhood memories made by the hands of Chrysoula, who I have in my heart, because her efforts to promote local cuisine are admirable.

Your recipe from Chrysoula and an idea of mine instead of orange you can use peach or apricot in juice and pieces of fruit since we have plenty in Northern Greece and especially in Imathia…

We put all the ingredients in a large saucepan except the semolina.

In a bowl, we mix the two types of semolina.

Once the ingredients of the pot have boiled, we add the semolina and stir with a wooden spoon until it thickens.

We put it in a cake pan and let it cool and then take it out of the cake pan.

We serve and garnish with seasonal fruits, nuts or dried fruits.

Another idea is to serve it with the dessert that we love cut into cubes such as bergamot, fig etc.
